Blackburn Campus Dress Code
Tops
Tops:
- Blouses, button up dress shirts, dresses, or polo shirts in SOLID light blue, black, navy blue or white. Both short and long sleeves are acceptable.
- Sweaters (v-neck or cardigan), vests, in solid navy blue, black, white or gray.
- Canton Montessori spirit wear in navy blue or gray can be worn for uniforms.
- We highly recommend keeping a cardigan, fleece, or hoodie in a uniform color at school. Sometimes the classrooms are chilly. Non-uniform jackets or coats are not permitted in the classroom.
Bottoms
Bottoms:
- Jumpers, skirts, “skorts”, pants (trousers, khakis, joggers), jeggings (leggings that have seams to look like dress pants) and shorts in solid navy blue, black or khaki. (Sweatpants and cargo pants are not uniform.)
- Leggings or tights may be worn ONLY with a skirt, dress, or jumper. PLEASE WEAR UNIFORM COLORED SHORTS UNDER SKIRTS AND DRESSES IF NOT BUILT IN.

- Socks must be worn at school.
Shoes:
- Students must have ONE pair of “inside shoes” that stay at school all year. If shoes become too small or worn out, we will send them home for replacements. (More details below)
- Athletic shoes for Physical Education. These can be their “inside shoes”, “outside shoes”, or extra athletic shoes that stay at school for gym and inside recess. Must have tread.
- Any closed toe shoes may be worn for “outside shoes” to and from school and during outside recess.
- Rain and/or snow boots should be available as well. Some families prefer to keep a pair of boots at school. NO FLIP FLOPS OR SANDALS PLEASE.
- “Inside shoes” must be SOLID white, black, navy blue or brown shoes. They may be slip ons, Crocs, dress shoes, or athletic style.
- No glitter or rhinestones on shoes.
- Shoes must be “flats”, no heels.
- If they are tie shoes, laces must also be white, black, navy blue, or brown. Please choose shoes that the child can manage independently. Logos are acceptable for shoes if they meet the dress code colors. (No large logos, should look plain)
- Shoes should fit so they do not slide off easily. Flats should have a strap across the top to secure them (aka Mary Jane style).
PE Attire
Phys. Ed. Attire:
- Must wear solid, UNIFORM COLOR comfortable pants, tennis/golf skorts, or athletic shorts.
- CMS t-shirt (any), solid uniform color t-shirt, or uniform color golf shirt on golf days
- Athletic shoes (Logo and color for SHOES does not matter for Phys. Ed. only)
- Wear these items to school all day on Phys. Ed. day.
- Jeans, dresses and dress skirts are NOT permitted for Phys. Ed. class.
- Small logos on Phys. Ed. clothes are permitted if they are uniform color and not distracting. (Ex. a small white Adidas logo is ok, neon logos or words down the leg of pants are not)
Accessories
Accessories
- Jewelry is permitted, but if it is a distraction, students will be asked to put it in their backpack. (Please do not send students to school with expensive or highly sentimental jewelry.)
- Analog or digital watches are permitted. Fitbits are permitted. NO SMART WATCHES.
- Hair accessories (bows, headbands, scrunchies, etc.) should be solid, uniform colors.
- Neckties and bowties are permitted in uniform colors.
- Hair color must be a natural color.
- Please avoid anything that jingles, flashes, beeps, or otherwise would be a distraction for other students while working.
Comfy Friday & Field Trip Attire
CMS SPIRITWEAR and DONATION DAY:
- FRIDAY is Comfy Day! Students may donate $1 to wear comfy clothes of their choice on Fridays (no pajamas, please). We will use the money collected to support classroom projects and activities.
Field Trip Attire
- Students must wear a rainbow tie-dyed shirt for most field trips. Please purchase from the Gear Shop online.
