Infant Environment
Canton Montessori School is committed to promoting quality and professional Montessori care to foster the development of basic trust and to assist in the development of the individual personality. These key concepts are the foundation of the CMS program.
Our infant environment (ages 6 weeks to 18 months) develops the sense of trust in your infant through adults responding appropriately to your infants' needs to be loved, respected & accepted. CMS' infant environment assists personality to development by supporting the beliefs that:
Infants learn through their senses - by watching and moving freely in the environment.
Your infant is considered as a whole person and is affected by the quality of holding and feeling, as well as the quality of physical care. The daily routine is based on the need of the individual child's timetable.
Independence is learned when infants participate in their daily routines of self care.
Infants are spoken to in the formal language with which they will communicate in the future.
The Canton Montessori School Infant Specialist (teacher) is educated in:
- Human growth and development
- Respecting & nurturing your infant
- Observational skills to assess development
- Preparing the physical environment
- Respecting your infants' daily routines based on his/her personal cues
- Verbal & non-verbal communication
- First aid & CPR
