Part of the goal of a Montessori toddler program is to help your child achieve physical independence and that means learning to dress and undress on their own. The right clothing plays a huge role in setting your child up for success in this. No matter the season, bottoms with an elastic waist and slip-on shoes are ideal. We also recommend keeping a pair of shoes/boots that are waterproof at school – Crocs are a great option. Another part of the Montessori experience is letting the children explore, explore, explore and that can mean getting messy. At CMS, we may be painting, cooking, sledding or splashing in puddles so please keep that in mind when choosing clothes for school. For winter, we ask that you provide boots, mittens and a snow suit – we will be outside whenever it is possible.
